The resort is located in the northeast of Suzhou ancient city, bordering Kunshan on the east, Suzhou Industrial Park on the south, Wuxi on the west and Changshu on the north. It covers a total planning area of 61.7 square kilometers with a population of 13,100, administering 5 villages and 2 communities. Of the 12,000-hectare water area of YangchengLake, Xiangcheng District accounts for 70%, and the resort occupies up to 43% of the water area of Xiangcheng District. Two of the three peninsulas of Yangcheng Lake, “Meirentui Peninsula” and “Lotus Island”, are within the resort, making it an ideal tourist destination to enjoy pastoral scenery and leisure holidays in Jiangnan (regions south of the Yangtze River).
Lotus Island covers a total area of 3.2 square kilometers and boasts a population of 1,200, with all the residents living on the lake and crabs. The island maintains the original ecological features of water towns in Jiangnan, so that you can enjoy distinctive tourism projects including Yiyuan Folk Museum, Sanyuan Mansion (the mansion of Qianqi, the man who won the academic titles at examinations held at three levels: Jieyuan for the winner at the provincial level, Huiyuan for the winner at the national level, and Zhuangyuan for the winner at the Imperial Palace level), Crab Culture Center, Windmills, Niudashui (the performance of cattle irrigating the farmland by using the wheel and axle), Xizui Park and food service featuring agritainment.
Stretching 13 kilometers, “Meirentui”Peninsula is the main road connecting Yangcheng Lake and Suzhou Industrial Park as well as an avenue for leisure and sightseeing. Along the way, there are many tourist spots for leisure such as Siko Grand Hotel, Tourist Transport Center of Yangcheng Lake (Yangcheng Lake Base for Self-driving Tours), Zuxiangbang Fishing House and Bauhinia Garden.
