Profile: With flowers blooming every month, fruit bearing every season and seafood producing every day, Dongshan gained the reputation of “Mountain of Flowers and Fruits” and “Land of Fish and Rice” in Jiangnan area. It is home to Biluochun tea, one of ten Chinese famous tea. Located 40 kilometers away from the southwest of Suzhou, facing the Charming Taihu Lake, and against the second high peak of Taihu Lake—Moli, it boasts of green hills and luxuriant trees, which is really fragrant and refreshing. On its island, there are rich in Biluochun tea, Baisha loquat, waxberry, bergamot ginkgo, chestnut, Dongting tangerine; there are three treasures in the Taihu Lake: silverfish, white shrimp and Meiji fish, and Taihu crab which is as famous as Yangcheng Lake hairy crab. Having a walk at Dongshan, you can take a look at Flower Craving Pavilion, Purple Gold Nunnery, Sanshan island, Luxiang Old Village, Qi Garden, Yuhua Shengjing, Mingshan Hall and Xuanyuan Palace. East Mountain has been praised by Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore as “ an always beautiful and soothing place”.
