Suzhou Museum of Imperial Kiln Brick, designed by Liu Jiakun, an eminent architect, is located in No.95, West Yangcheng Lake Road in Xiangcheng District, which covers an area of 38,875 square meters with a floor space of 15,087 square meters.
As the first museum to display “ imperial kiln brick” nationwide, Suzhou Museum of Imperial Kiln Brick aims to protect the precious cultural heritage, to display the little-known “ imperial kiln brick” making procedures and its profound historical culture in all-around multiple aspects through organizing and creating of the architectures.
The main museum as its major part and core construction, Suzhou Museum of Imperial kiln Brick includes the relics of imperial kiln brick, a tourist center, a modern art exchange center, the relics of broken imperial kiln brick and a supporting service area. It is completely displayed through three different procedures-“ the making process of a brick”,“ the trip of a brick”, “ the era of a brick”. The application of various progressive exhibition methods including the cultural relics exhibition, the reconstruction of scenes, technological simulation, interactive games,vividly shows the making process of imperial kiln brick from the regional raw material of Yangcheng Lake-yellow clay to the brick of emperors’ palaces in the Ming and Qing dynasties, to the construction material authorized by the governments and “ top one brick nationwide” in the royal families.
On March 19, 2019,it gained the name of national 4A scenic spot!
