The 2025 Suzhou Marathon gunned off at the Shishan Culture Square at 7:30 on Mar. 2, attracting 25,000 runners from 27 countries and regions.
The Suzhou Marathon this year was sponsored by the Suzhou Municipal Government and organized by the Suzhou Sports Bureau under the technical guidance of the Chinese Athletics Association (CAA). The race had Bank of Suzhou as its title sponsor. It’s the first race of the Jiangsu Provincial Grand Canal Marathon Series in 2025 and the first A1-class marathon event of the CAA held in Jiangsu Province this year.
The Suzhou Marathon has been successfully held for three sessions. The health run was removed from this year’s event which only included a full marathon and a half marathon attended by 15,000 and 10,000 runners, respectively. A total of more than 160,000 marathon enthusiasts from 27 countries and regions had registered for the race, with a lot winning rate of 9.67%. This year, more direct entries had been made for participants. A total of 7,826 runners had been directly enrolled into the marathon according to their age and personal best. In the end, many of the participants run a personal best and the records for men’s and women’s half and full marathons were all reset.
This year’s Suzhou Marathon witnessed a big adjustment to the running course. Both the full marathon and half marathon started at the Shishan Culture Square. The half marathon finished at the Tongjing Park while the finishing point of the full marathon was at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Center. The running route passed a number of local landmarks and scenic spots in Suzhou New District (SND), Gusu District, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone (DLSEIZ), offering the runners a good opportunity to appreciate the picturesque scenery of the city.
